In the News: 13 Investigates: Houston area homeowners risk ditching insurance amid 'unsustainable' rates

Shannon Ryan and Sarah Rafique of ABC-13 Eyewitness News have released a new story on the unsustainable cost of homeowners insurance in Texas and how lawmakers need to zero in on bringing down the price of these policies. 

Executive Director Ware Wendell noted how the Texas Department of Insurance needs to step in and rein in rate overcharges by insurance companies, stating, "It's up to the Department of Insurance if they identify an overcharge, to then challenge that... We're not seeing that the TDI is doing that often."
