In the News: Lawmakers examine insurance bundling
Diana Zoga and Robin Carter of NBC 5 DFW have released a new story on Senate Bill 213, which would prohibit insurers from forcing consumers to bundle their home and auto policies, being considered in committee. This strong consumer legislation is authored by Texas Senator Royce West.
Executive Director Ware Wendell testified in the Senate Committee on Business and Commerce in support of the bill. He stated, “If [insurers are] forcing you to get their auto policy in addition to your homeowner's policy, they have less incentive to keep those auto rates in line. It can also disadvantage smaller insurance companies when the 800-pound gorillas come in and do this."
