In the News: Insurance discounts for safe driving offered by big companies? Here’s what I learned
Texas Watch Executive Director Ware Wendell was quoted in Dave Lieber's recent story on how auto insurance companies are buying or capturing driving data from apps to "score" us and determine a consumer's premium.
Mr. Wendell said the insurance companies are "spying on us just so they can jack up their rates even more."
"Many people have no idea this is happening until their insurance rate are hiked for braking or accelerating too hard in the company's eyes," Wendell said. "Their snooping is just plain creepy, and it needs to stop."
